Animal Shelter

Animal Shelter

The Camden County Animal Shelter was built in 1997 by the Camden County Board of Freeholders in response to the overwhelming stray/unwanted animal population in the county that overburdened other local shelters. The shelter provides refuge for more than 6,000 animals per year.

The primary goal of the shelter is to reduce euthanasia for healthy, adoptable animals in Camden County. If you or your family is looking for a pet, there is no better deed you can do than to provide one of those at the Camden County Animal Shelter with a loving, caring new home.

There are dogs available and there’s always an abundant supply of cats and kittens for adoption. Animals ready for adoption have received all shots and been spayed/neutered.

If you cannot adopt but would still like to help the animals at the Camden County Animal Shelter, consider a donation of cat or dog food – wet and dry are appreciated.  With literally hundreds of mouths to feed, your support enables the shelter to continue their important work.

There are also services offered at the shelter that some people may not be aware of, such as low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and other services available by appointment at the shelter every week – not just during the clinics held throughout the year.
