Wolgemuth Park, Mount Joy Township's first municipal park, is located along Elizabethtown Road adjacent to the Fairview Elementary School. Paul M. and Verda W. Wolgemuth donated this 10-acre tract of land to the Township specifically for a park.
Park amenities include: a 90' baseball field, 60' softball field, a multi-purpose field, sand volleyball court, tot lot, pedestrian path around the perimeter and a small pavilion. Parking is provided.
Wolgemuth Park dedication ceremonies were held on May 21, 2005 and the park is now complete and open to the public. The park pavilion is available to be reserved for your next family gathering, party, group meeting, etc. The cost is $15.00 per day for Mount Joy Township residents and $25.00 per day for non-residnets. Please call the Municipal Office to reserve the pavilion or if you have questions and/or comments on the park.
Intermunicipal Park
Mount Joy Township, Elizabethtown Borough and West Donegal Township have purchased 168 acres of land along Beverly Road for the specific purpose of developing park and open space for the region. The Elizabethtown Area Regional Authority was the purchasing agent for the park.
The Elizabethtown Area Park Authority (EAPA) was created in July of 2004 to oversee the design and operation of the regional park facility. EAPA conducts a public meeting on the first Tuesday of each month here at the Mount Joy Township Municipal Building, 159 Merts Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. EAPA is comprised of three (3) representatives each from Elizabethtown Borough, Mount Joy Towship, and West Donegal Township.
The Lancaster County Conservancy recently purchased and will preserve approximately 75 acres from EAPA.
GEARS (Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services)
Mount Joy Township is a participating and supporting member of GEARS. The GEARS Board consists of members from Conoy Township, Elizabethtown Borough, Mount Joy Township, West Donegal Township and Elizabethtown Area School District.
GEARS mission is to provide recreation, continuing education and social service activities/programs for the children, youth and adults of the participating municipalities in a fiscally responsible manner.
