The original Glen Allen Branch Library opened in August, 1995 to provide library services to the northern part of the Brookland District. Rapid growth in the area fostered a major renovation and expansion project approved by voters in a 2005 bond referendum. It reopened in October 2010. Among the special features are a unique Founding Fathers collection, a 3,000 square foot courtyard, a rain-forest themed children's area and dedicated program room, automated book returns, and spaces for public meetings and quiet study.
