Town of Wallkill Fire-Silver Lake Fire District (non-emergency)
We are located in upstate New York in the Town of
Wallkill, Middletown NY in Orange County. We are
about 60 miles from New York City.
Our district is approximately 10 square miles, comprised
of residential bi-level homes, 14 residential
apartment / condo complexes, 2 large independent senior
apt complexes, and a 4 mile stretch of dense commercial
structures including a new 900,000 sq. foot outdoor
mall. We also have a handful of industrial locations
including a battery smelting plant and an aluminum can
manufacturing plant. We cover a section of
Rt 17 and our local highway. Rt 211 is now up to 6 lanes in order to get traffic to our all of our local businesses.
Our dept responds annually to 650-700 runs. We do not
run medical calls but are available at the request of
any medical agency or the police.
We protect our taxpayers with 2 engines, 1 aerial
truck, 1 heavy rescue, 1 fire police car
and 3 chiefs' vehicles.
