The Marlboro Free Library in Ulster County NY is chartered with New York State as a School District Public Library, which means that we share our tax district with the Marlboro Central School System. Full-time Marlboro school district residents have full membership privileges, as do non-residents who pay an annual membership fee. Our budget is open to review by the public and voted on annually. We are members of the MidHudson Library System, a state mandated entity that serves public libraries in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, and Ulster Counties.
Our publicly elected Board of Trustees meets regularly (usually monthly) and oversees most areas of the library except library operations which fall under the library director’s responsibility. The Board hires the library director. Meetings are open to the public.
